Metro Manila, Philippines, September 24, 2014 -- Toyota Classics concerts have captivated music aficionados in Asia for more than two decades. Now on its 25th year globally, Toyota celebrates this milestone by bringing back an exclusive cultural experience to classical music enthusiasts in this special one-night performance in November.
The 2014 Toyota Classics will showcase the Covent Garden Soloists Orchestra, featuring the highly acclaimed Violin and Artistic Director Vasko Vassilev, and Singapore-born pianist, composer and arranger Pamela Tan Nicholson. For the first time ever, this concert for a good cause will showcase a repertoire of original arrangements by Pamela-Tan Nicholson, including movie theme songs from classic western movies and modern-day blockbusters. Aside from these pieces, the Covent Garden Soloists will also be reliving songs from the Phantom of the Opera with our very own Bituin Escalante and Dondi Ong.
Dondi Ong is a 2-time Aliw Awardee for Male Classical Performer of the Year and has also played in Phantom of the Opera shows abroad. Bituin Escalante, on the other hand, is considered to be one of the Philippines’ best female vocals who is also recognized as a power-belter. Aside from being a seasoned theatre artist, she has also shared the stage with world renowned talents such as Jim Brickman, David Benoit and the legendary Michel Legrand.
The said Charity Asian Concert Series will be staged in seven countries namely Singapore, Cambodia, Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. In Manila, witness this concert of moving lives and societies forward through classical music on November 6, 2014 (Thursday) at Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater), at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Doors will open at 7:30 in the evening. Ticket proceeds from the Toyota Classics ticket sales will be donated to Plan International.
